MochaHost.com has been providing web hosting services for more than ten years, but it is only in the past couple of years that they have garnered momentum. A lot of website operators have tried their luck with MochaHost, which promises fast and stable web solutions.

The web hosting provider appeals to small and medium sized businesses due to the flexible plans and features they offer to clients. A lot of their clients expect quality services from them but somehow the company failed to deliver. The company has been plagued with complaints, and that has led to the grade of F from the BBB.

MochaHost Overall Review

mochahost

mochahost

If you are looking for a cheap hosting provider, then choose MochaHost. Just be prepared of the occasional hosting issues. They have affordable plans with good features. Keep in mind that you need to pay more for add-ons that might come free with other more reliable hosting providers. When you go for MochaHost, you should first have a grasp on what you want from the web host as well as a budget. And when you run into issues in the future, you should have the patience to deal with their customer support.

Features

To be fair to MochaHost, they provide packages that are rich with features. All of their hosting plans come with unlimited bandwidth and disk space. Customers have access to an easy website builder, more than a hundred web apps, and a lot more. Additional features are also available, but they will cost customers a lot more. The website builder allows users to create a website, WordPress blog, or a photo gallery from scratch. There are already templates for pages and edit the content with various modules. It would only require less than an hour to launch a working website. They also have the latest versions of Python, Cron Jobs, and Ruby on Rails, Perl, and PHP. MochaHost also gives free SEO tools, email marketing packs, Google ads, and social bundles.

Reliability

MochaHost guarantees an impossible 100 percent uptime. That means there will be no downtimes for the website. The company is small compared to the other budget web hosting providers, and they could probably be able to find solutions to issues the quickest possible time but it would still result to a downtime. According to MochaHost, their guarantee excludes scheduled maintenance time, problems that are out of their network, malicious activities on their servers, and failure caused by their clients. They listed client-side failures to include configuration errors, third party software errors, and excessive or abusive use of resources.

If a client experience server downtime, MochaHost is willing to credit them based on the duration of the time the server is offline. The first three hours of downtime will earn the client 3 percent of the monthly fee. 5 percent of the monthly fee will be added every hour after the first three hours. Their uptime guarantee is not applicable to VPS and dedicated server clients.

Price / Value

MochaHost is one of the cheapest web hosting providers on the market today. While the plans are full of features, you will be doing all the work on your own. If you have the time to figure out how to use the web host, then MochaHost will give a good deal for you.

For shared hosting, MochaHost has three packages, which are Soho, Business and Mocha. Soho costs $1.95 a month and can host a single website. Their Business plan costs $2.45 a month and can host unlimited websites. It is perfect for business and e-commerce websites. The most expensive plan is Mocha, which costs $7.25 a month. Unlike other providers, MochaHost guarantees a lifetime discount. That means what you pay for the first year will remain the same.

Performance

A lot of people complain that their websites on MochaHost load very slow. It looks like they place a lot of customers on a single shared server, and that’s why their servers are sluggish at times. And don’t expect them to fulfill their 100 percent uptime guarantee because they will be lots of issues with the web host providers. Some of their customers even said that their account has been suspended when they were just uploading files for their website. Even the BBB has given the web host an F.

Customer Support

Customer support is another weak point of MochaHost. A lot of webmasters have expressed their frustration with regards to the help they get from MochaHost’s customer service representatives. The hosting company provides 24/7 customer service via a ticketing system and a toll-free number that’s available through callback. They also have a knowledgebase that has answers to common issues. MochaHost can improve on their response time whether it is answering emails or calling back their customers. They should also train their staff to be able to answer technical questions from advanced customers.
